Grandview had another very successful showing at CornerStone Farms' Dressage At Palgrave show which ran from June 4th - 6th. Limestone Springtime continued her winning ways and was once again crowned Training Open Champion, winning 4 of her 6 tests and coming a very close 2nd in her other two, with her scores ranging from 68 into the 70s. Rubix also continued to shine as his young career continues to develop with consistent solid tests at 1st level, placing in the top 4 in all 4 of the large classes in which he competed with scores into the 70s. d'Azanté also put in a good showing with some solid results at 2nd level, including earning a 69% in one of the tests he executed in front of Lee Tubman.
With hardly any time to recouperate, Grandview headed off just a week and half later to the York Equestrian Centre, which was home to a very large and very well run National Show and CDI the weekend of June 18th - 20th. The show was packed with a waiting list with most of the lower level classes bursting at the seams. From the riders point of view, the show, in its typical York fashion (with Anne Welch behind the scenes working her magic) ran impeccably so much credit must be passed on to the show organizers and volunteers.
Despite incredibly warm temperatures on Friday, rather cold temperatures on Saturday and massive winds throughout the weekend's entirety, the horses representing Grandview put in some excellent performances.
Limestone Springtime proved yet again that she is a serious up-and-coming talent in earning yet another Training Open Championship, coming home with all red and blue ribbons. Her consistency, focus and natural athletic ability didn't waiver despite the weather.
d'Azanté continues to improve at 2nd level, also winning several of his tests and coming home with the 2nd level Open Championship. Rubix put in some very nice tests, winning one his classes on Friday, and coming in the top 3 in others.
Ashlee Bell and Corgan, (whom Grandview has enjoyed having at the farm training for the last few weeks in June), continue to develop their quality and garner invaluable experience to add to their very young showing career. They, too, won a number of their tests, and came home with the Training Junior Reserve Championship.
And last but definitely not least, Laura Tweedy joined us again for this show with her lovely young gelding, Ducatti. Ducatti is just 4 years old, and started to show some excellent signs of maturity at York. Despite the pair still being quite green in the show ring, they had some lovely tests, winning 4 of the 6 classes they were entered, with a highlight of 70.00% on Saturday, and earning the Training Adult Amateur Championship. Congratulations to all of you for a job well done!!!
With the Grandview horses doing so well over the show season, the decision was made at the Palgrave show not to attend Blainville and to rather give the horses a much deserved break. Good luck to all competitors entered and we look forward to seeing some of you at the York Show at the end of July.
